The features people ask about most, and where they live in the app.
Marriage
Keep score for Marriage, round by round.
Start a game and add players
- Open Marriage from the home screen and tap Start New Game.
- Choose your settings (see Marriage rules) and the rate per point.
- Add the players, then start the first round.
To bring someone in later, see Add a player mid-game.
Enter a round
- Mark who won the round.
- Set each other player's status: Seen, Unseen, Dublee, Foul or Hold.
- Enter each player's maal points.
- Save. The points for every player are worked out for you, and every round adds up to zero.
Read the scoreboard and leaderboard
The scoreboard has three tabs: Current (this round), All rounds and Leaders. All rounds shows every round and the running total for each player. The leaderboard ranks players and turns points into money using your rate per point.
The scoreboard marks the latest round, and shows x2 or LP chips on rounds played with Better or Less point.
Marriage rules in the app
What each setting and status does. The in-app Game rules entry in the scoreboard menu shows the rules for your game.
Murder or Kidnap
Murder: the maal points of an unseen player are ignored.
Kidnap: all maal points are kidnapped and added to the winner's total. Unseen players also pay for their maal.
Only one of the two can be on at a time.
Seen, Unseen, Dublee, Foul and Hold
- Seen: the player has shown their cards, and pays the seen point to the winner.
- Unseen: the player has not shown, and pays the larger unseen point.
- Dublee: the player has a dublee. If the winner has one, everyone pays the dublee bonus.
- Foul: the player broke a rule. Foul points can be paid in the same round or the next one, depending on your Foul bonus setting.
- Hold: the player sits the round out and pays or receives nothing. Hold stays on for later rounds until you change it.
Round options: Better, Less point, Dealing foul
- Better: every point in the round is doubled.
- Less point: there is no winner. Only the difference in maal is paid.
- Dealing foul: the dealer's mistake is charged straight away and split between the other players.
Options belong to a single round, so you can switch them on for one round and off for the next. They show on the scoreboard, in All rounds and in round review.
Maal Point Guide
A quick reference for the maal in Marriage.
Where to find it
Marriage home → Learn to Play → Maal Point Guide
It explains the maal cards (tiplu, poplu, jhiplu and more) so you can check a hand while you play. The same Learn to Play sheet also has Rules & Instructions, How to Play Marriage and Strategy Tips.
Add a player mid-game
Someone arrives late, or you want to rotate players? You do not need to start over. This is available in Marriage.
Add a new player
Scoreboard → the ... menu → Add player
- Play at least one round first. The option appears once the game has rounds.
- Type the new player's name and add them.
- They join from the next round. Earlier rounds are never changed.
Only the host (the person scoring) can add players. A name that is already in the game is rejected.
Hold and resume players
The same screen lets you put a player on Hold, or resume a player who was on Hold. A player on Hold stays on Hold in later rounds until you resume them.
Players are never removed from a game, so everyone's earlier points and money stay correct.
"Only 6 players can be active"
A game can have more than 6 players in total, but only 6 can play in a round. If you see this message, put someone who is not playing on Hold first, then add or resume the player you want.
Call Break and Kitti
Calls, hands won, and how the score is worked out.
Play a round
- Each player enters their call (the hands they expect to win).
- After the round, enter the hands won by each player.
- The app scores the round and updates the totals.
How the score is worked out
- You made your call: you score the call, plus a tenth of a point for each extra hand (call 4, won 6 = 4.2).
- You missed your call: you lose the call (call 4, won 3 = -4).
- The Bonus Pnt. Round at setting turns that many extra hands, added up across the whole game, into one whole point. At the default of 10, ten extra hands make a point.
Kitti modes
Kitti has three modes, set by how many cards each player gets from a 52-card deck: 9 Kitti (up to 5 players), 13 Kitti (up to 4 players) and 17 Kitti (up to 3 players). The app tells you if you have too many players for the mode you picked. You can change the mode in Game settings.
Change settings mid-game
Wrong rate per point? Want to switch a rule? You can change settings while a game is in progress.
Where to change them
Scoreboard → the ... menu → Game settings
The screen is called Current Settings and says "Changes apply to the game in progress." Only the host can open it.
Marriage: what you can change
- Murder or Kidnap
- Currency and Rate Per Point
- Seen point and Unseen point
- Dublee, the dublee bonus point, and whether a dublee player pays the seen point
- Foul, the foul point and the Foul bonus (this game or the next)
Call Break and Kitti: what you can change
- Number of rounds (it cannot be lower than the round you are on)
- Currency and Base Rate
- Bonus Pnt. Round at
- Minimum and maximum calls allowed (Call Break)
- Double Pay on minus
- The Kitti mode (limited by how many players you have)
Totals and money follow the current settings, so a changed base rate or bonus setting shows up in the whole game's totals.
Will other players see the change?
If you are streaming the game, the new settings are sent to everyone following it.
Edit a previous round
Made a mistake? You can fix it in any game type: Marriage, Call Break and Kitti.
Edit the latest round
Scoreboard → the Edit button at the bottom (for example "Edit R4")
It opens the round you just finished. In Call Break and Kitti you can change the calls and the hands won. In Marriage you can change the winner, statuses and points, and the round options.
Edit any earlier round
- Open the scoreboard and go to All rounds.
- Tap the round ("Tap a round to review it").
- Review it, then tap Edit, change the entries and save.
The totals, leaderboard and money update straight away, and live viewers see the change.
Call Break and Kitti: rounds saved by an older version of the app did not keep their calls and hands won, so only the latest round can be edited in those games. Rounds you play now can all be edited.
Who can edit?
The host. Players following a live game can open any round to review it, but only the host can change it.
Live games
Let friends follow the scoreboard on their own phones, in a browser, or on a TV. It works for Marriage, Call Break and Kitti.
Stream your game
Scoreboard → the ... menu → Stream live
- On Stream this game, pick the access mode: Public (anyone with the Game Code can join) or Private (needs an access PIN, 4 to 6 digits).
- Tap Start Streaming.
- Tap Share Invite, or show the QR code or Game Code.
To show the code again later, open the menu and choose Stream QR code.
Join and follow a game
Home menu → Join Live Game
- Tap Scan QR Code, or type the Game Code and tap Join Game.
- If the game is private, enter the access PIN when asked.
- You see the scores in real time. You can open any round to review it, and open Settle Up to see who pays whom.
Live games you hosted or joined are listed under Recent live games on the game's home screen, so you can go back to one.
Watch in a browser or on a TV
Nobody needs the app to watch. Open the web scoreboard, mrajan.com.np/mgpc-stream, in the browser on a laptop, tablet or smart TV, then enter the Game Code. (Type the address in rather than tapping it on a phone with the app, because the app would open instead.)
Hand over the scoring (transfer host)
- The current host opens the menu and taps Transfer host. A QR code and a Transfer Host Code appear.
- The new host opens the same game, taps Join as host and scans the QR code or types the code.
- The game now has a new host, who can enter rounds, edit them and change settings.
Handy when the host's battery is low.
Settle Up
At the end of the night, turn the scores into the fewest payments, and fold in snacks and dinner.
Settle a game
Scoreboard → the ... menu → Settle Up
- Play at least one round. Settle Up appears once the game has rounds.
- Payments shows who pays whom, using the fewest payments that square everyone up.
- Tap a payment to mark it Settled when it is paid. Unpaid ones show "Not yet paid".
- Balances shows what each player is up or down.
If everyone is even, it says "Everyone is already square".
Add shared costs (snacks, dinner, taxi)
- Under Shared costs, tap Add shared cost.
- Enter what it was, the amount, and who paid.
- Choose who shares it. It is split equally between them.
The payments update to include the cost. Amounts are worked out to the cent, so the totals always add up.
Share the settlement
Tap Share settlement to send it to the group chat: WhatsApp, Viber, Messenger or SMS.
Settle Up in a live game
The host's Settle Up is shared with everyone following the game. They open View Settle Up (read-only), and it stays up to date as the host changes it.
Player insights
Who really wins most? Your game history, turned into answers. It uses only the games saved on your phone.
Where to find it
Marriage, Call Break or Kitti home → Insights
At the top, choose Marriage, CallBreak, Kitti or All.
What it shows
- Lifetime leaderboard: each player's wins and games played, and the money won or lost over all their games.
- A player's page: tap a player to see their form over recent games, their longest win streak, their toughest opponent and their recent games.
- Compare two players: who finished ahead more often, and the last games they played together.
Things to know
- Only finished games count.
- Win rates need at least 5 games. Until then rankings are marked "Provisional".
- Money stays separate for each game type and currency, because scoring is not comparable across games.
- Players are matched by name. "Ramesh", "ramesh" and "Ramesh " are the same player, but "Ram" and "Ramesh" are not. Type names the same way each time.
Learn and strategy
Guides inside the app for learning the games.
Learn to Play, Strategy and Tips
Each game's home screen has a Learn to Play card with guides. Marriage also has the Maal Point Guide. Strategy & Tips is on every game home, and in the home screen's floating menu.
Ad-free
Ads keep MGPC free. You can pause them.
Go ad-free by watching an ad
In Settings, or the home screen's floating menu, tap Go ad-free and watch a short ad. You get a while without ads. Watch another while it runs to add more time.
Use a promo code
In Settings, tap Redeem Promo Code and enter your code.
Frequently asked questions
Why do the scores in a round add up to zero?
Every point one player wins is lost by another, so a round always balances. If you ever see a round that does not, please email us with the settings you used.
I changed the rate per point halfway. Did earlier rounds change too?
Yes. The rate applies to the whole game's totals. In Marriage, saving new settings also works every earlier round out again. See Change settings mid-game.
Can I add a 7th player?
In Marriage a game can have more than 6 players, but only 6 can be active in a round. Put someone on Hold first. See Add a player mid-game.
Where are my games stored?
Games are saved on your phone. The app keeps your most recent 100 games. Games you share live are also sent to our servers so your friends can see them.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Scoring works offline. Live games, ads, promo codes and sharing a settlement need a connection.
I entered something wrong. Can I undo it?
Yes, see Edit a previous round.
Why is a feature missing from my menu?
Some entries only show when they apply. Add player and Settle Up appear once a game has rounds. Game settings, Add player and Transfer host are for the host. Players following a live game see View live scoreboard instead.
How do I change the theme?
Open the menu button on the home screen, or Settings, and tap Change App Theme. Choose System default, Light or Dark.
How is my data used?
Read our privacy policy and terms.
Email [email protected], or use Send Feedback in the app.
