I’m Rajan Maharjan, a senior mobile engineer focused on building reliable products where mobile is core to the business, not an afterthought.
What I Do
I work at the intersection of mobile architecture, product delivery, and operational reliability. My recent work spans React Native platform modernization, native iOS and Android integration, AI-assisted workflows, IoT-connected experiences, and payment-enabled mobile systems.
I’m strongest when a product needs both hands-on execution and long-term technical direction:
- React Native architecture and modernization
- Swift and Kotlin integration for platform-specific and performance-critical features
- AI-assisted product workflows and real-time streaming experiences
- CI/CD, Fastlane, GitHub Actions, and release readiness
- production debugging, crash stability, and performance profiling
- cross-functional ownership across product, backend, QA, and design
What I’m Strongest At
Mobile Architecture
I enjoy turning growing React Native codebases into platforms that are easier to extend, test, release, and maintain over time. That includes architecture decisions, modernization work, and helping teams avoid short-term choices that become long-term friction.
Native Integration
When a product needs more than a pure JavaScript solution, I’m comfortable bridging into native iOS and Android work. That includes Swift and Kotlin integrations for performance-sensitive features, platform-specific behavior, and product workflows that sit close to the operating system or device layer.
AI-Assisted Products
I’m especially interested in AI-assisted product experiences that solve real workflow problems. My focus here is practical: streaming experiences, agent-assisted user flows, and engineering patterns that use AI to reduce manual work while keeping the product reliable and understandable.
Payments, Delivery, and Production Reliability
I’ve worked on products where reliability matters as much as feature velocity, including payment-enabled systems, IoT-connected apps, and production release pipelines. I care about observability, release quality, crash reduction, and delivery systems that support teams at scale.
Recent Experience
Solo Technologies
I currently work as a Senior Mobile Engineer, leading mobile architecture and platform modernization work across iOS and Android. My recent focus includes AI-assisted customer workflows, real-time streaming experiences, subscription and payment flows, observability, release readiness, and performance-focused native integrations.
SunStrong and SunPower
Before that, I helped build and evolve mobile products in the solar and storage space for both field technicians and homeowners. That work included commissioning flows, BLE and Wi-Fi device integration, scanner workflows, firmware-adjacent coordination, CI/CD automation, and production support for systems used at meaningful scale.
Oyster, XRi, and Earlier Product Work
Earlier in my career, I led and contributed to fintech, education, nonprofit, healthcare-adjacent, and GPS-connected products. Those projects strengthened my ability to move between product strategy, implementation, and delivery while adapting to different industries and technical constraints.
How I Work
I care about shipping quickly, but I care just as much about maintainability, observability, and trust after release. I like building systems that teams can operate confidently months later, not just demo successfully once.
I’m also at my best in collaborative environments where engineering is expected to contribute to product direction. I enjoy mentoring, reviewing architecture, improving release processes, and helping teams raise the quality bar without slowing down momentum.
Outside of Work
Outside of my day job, I build personal and community-oriented products, write about React Native and modern development workflows, and keep investing in tools that help me ship better software. I’m especially interested in AI-assisted product experiences, social-impact technology, and mobile systems that solve real operational problems.
Projects Beyond Work
Outside of my professional role, I also build and support projects that reflect my interests in community impact, learning, and everyday utility.
- Marriage Game Point Calculator: A cross-platform app used by thousands to simplify scorekeeping for a traditional Nepali card game.
- NepalBhasa App: A cultural and language-preservation platform built with Dabuli to support the Nepalbhasa community.
- Hamro Blood Bank: A product focused on improving donor matching and access during time-sensitive medical situations.
- Immersive learning tools: Ongoing work exploring AI-assisted educational experiences and research-oriented product workflows.
- Open-source and mentoring: I regularly invest time in sharing knowledge, mentoring earlier-career developers, and building tools that solve practical problems.
These projects reflect the kind of work I’m naturally drawn to: useful software, cultural connection, and products that help people in tangible ways.
