Context
My School Bus is a school transport tracking platform designed to improve child safety and daily transport coordination for parents, schools, and transport staff. The system combines GPS location, attendance-style tracking, and alerts so families and school operations teams can make better real-time decisions.

My Role
I contributed to the mobile and web tracking workflows used by parents, school staff, transport managers, and bus attendants.
My contributions included:
- implementing real-time GPS and attendance-linked visibility flows
- building notification workflows for pickup, drop-off, delay, and route events
- supporting route planning and re-routing behavior for school operations
- contributing to role-specific experiences for parent, transport manager, and attendant use cases
- helping productize hardware-assisted tracking with operational web tooling
Technical Challenges
- ensuring live location and event updates remained useful in day-to-day transport operations
- designing alerts that were timely enough to improve safety without causing notification fatigue
- supporting multiple user roles with different priorities and workflows
- balancing map-heavy interfaces with performance and usability on mobile devices
- integrating hardware-backed tracking with application-level reliability
Stack
- React Native
- React
- Node.js
- AngularJS
- AWS
- Mapbox
- GPS and RFID-assisted tracking flows
Outcomes
- Improved transport visibility for parents and schools through real-time location and event updates
- Reduced manual coordination by digitizing attendance and trip-status communication
- Enabled more proactive transport planning through route, speed, and schedule insights
- Supported safer and more predictable school commute experiences for students
Extra Feature Details
- Parent, transport manager, and bus attendant app workflows supported
- alerting coverage includes pickup/drop events, route deviation, and speed monitoring
- timing-based alerts included an advance reminder window before pickup/drop schedules
- RFID + GPS integrations supported student boarding/alighting visibility
- hardware workflow was designed around a compact single-unit tracking/reader setup
- hardware manufacturing and reliability support included local collaboration with Spark Innovation
What This Proves
This project demonstrates my ability to deliver operationally important systems where reliability and clear communication directly affect user trust. It also shows I can bridge mobile UX, mapping, backend workflows, and hardware-assisted tracking.
