Nepal Ambulance System

Context

Nepal Ambulance System is a fleet-tracking and dispatch-support web platform for emergency medical services. The system gives operations teams real-time ambulance visibility so they can coordinate faster and make better dispatch decisions under time pressure.

My Role

I helped build the web application workflows used by back-office teams to monitor fleet status and respond to emergencies more effectively.

My contributions included:

  • implementing map-based real-time GPS tracking for active ambulances
  • supporting status monitoring workflows (available, en route, at hospital, and related states)
  • enabling dispatch-oriented views to identify the nearest suitable ambulance
  • integrating route and traffic-aware operational decision support
  • building alert and notification patterns for operational exceptions

Technical Challenges

  • handling real-time location updates in a way that stayed clear and actionable for operators
  • reducing decision latency during emergency dispatch workflows
  • maintaining system usability for high-pressure operations teams
  • supporting route adjustments when traffic or road conditions changed
  • balancing operational visibility with secure communication of sensitive information

Stack

  • Node.js
  • AngularJS
  • Mapbox
  • GPS and map-based fleet monitoring

Outcomes

  • Improved real-time fleet visibility for emergency response operations
  • Enabled faster dispatch coordination through location and status-aware workflows
  • Reduced manual communication overhead with centralized operational tracking
  • Strengthened day-to-day reliability for ambulance monitoring and routing decisions

Extra Feature Details

  • live GPS tracking on interactive maps for all active ambulances
  • dispatch support for nearest-available ambulance selection
  • status tracking for operational ambulance states (available, en route, hospital)
  • route optimization support based on real-time traffic and road conditions
  • alerting for delays, unscheduled stops, and related operational exceptions

What This Proves

This project shows my ability to build systems in high-urgency domains where response speed and clarity matter. It demonstrates practical execution across geospatial interfaces, backend-driven operations, and workflow reliability.
